Guess what? Apex Legends is still a freaking cash cow that shows no signs of slowing down.
During EA's Fiscal Year 2024, it was revealed that Apex Legends has net bookings of $3.4 billion since its 2019 launch. That's more money than I could spend in my lifetime, unless I play Apex Legends which is more than happy to take that money from me.
In probably the most unnecessary statement ever, EA remains committed to Apex Legends and its continued growth.
In other EA financial news, it was stated that this past Fiscal Year was the biggest for EA's sports games, with the launch of titles like EA Sports FC leading the way in that regard.
Mobile is still on EA's mind as well, with EA Sports FC, Madden NFL, and The Sims "continuing to make strategic investments in standalone mobile titles". Between The Sims 4 and The Sims Mobile there have been over 500 million downloads.
For those who just want numbers, EA delivered net revenue of $7.56 billion, up 2% year-over-year. Costs were $1.71 billion, leaving the resulting gross margin at 77.4%. Moving to fourth quarter results. Total net bookings for the fourth quarter was $1.67 billion, down 14% year over year in both actual and constant currency. Full game net bookings for the quarter was $259 million, and live services for the quarter was $1.41 billion. Q4 delivered net revenue of $1.78 billion, down 5% year over year. Cost of revenue was $357 million, which translated to a gross margin of 79.9%.
EA expects Q1 2025 to be down 21-27% since it's going up against the Q1 2024 results which were the highest quarter in the company's history.
