It’s been a little over a month since the announcement was made that more work was needed on Blue Protocol before pushing into a full global launch. At the same time the developer “discontinued” the community channel and Discord for the time being.
The dev team determined more work was required based on player feedback. Although, at the time, they did not specify exactly what complaints players had. Now, the team is ready to drop a big update named “Beyond” addressing some of these issues. The update will drop on June 26. At the same time, the MMORPG’s development team sat down with Famitsu for an interview (translated by Automation Media) – most likely to get the word out about the update.
According to the interview, while the game’s Japanese launch was successful at first, but began to lose players. Aside from bugs, one of the biggest factors in player loss had to do with gameplay being too repetitive, requiring players to redo the same content too many times to complete gear or even get through the story.
According to the interview, this repetition was intentional and was supposed to encourage players to take their time in the game. Of course, we all know that’s not how gamers operate. Now, the devs are working to cull the repetitive gameplay but note that getting rid of all of it won’t be easy.
The other issue players had was that despite the repeating gameplay requiring them to spend more time in the game, there wasn’t really all that much to do. Effectively, it’s lacking side content and other challenges that typically keep players invested in a game while they wait for the next batch of story content to arrive.
To fix this, the devs are working on more casual content. Items listed include games of tag, hide-and-seek, and volleyball.
