Bungie Shows Off More Of What's Coming In Destiny 2's Upcoming Expansion The Final Shape

The Final Shape isn’t out yet for another two weeks or so, but let’s see what’s happening this week in Destiny 2. 

We're getting a preview of the content coming with the shooter's expansion, including details on The Witness and new exotic class items. Key updates include a recap of weapon tuning, reveals of new exotic weapons and armor, enhanced perk updates, memento changes, and reduced Fragment costs at Ikora. Additionally, a new boss profile for The Pantheon has been introduced, and the Zero Hour Exotic mission has gone live — featuring the Outbreak Perfected Exotic Pulse Rifle.

The Final Shape brings significant improvements to weapon enhancement, making it easier to upgrade weapons and expanding the system to include more of them. This new enhancement system will replace Masterworks with enhanced intrinsic traits, add weapon levels, and introduce memento sockets. Weapons can now be upgraded through three tiers of enhancement, improving their traits and perks without needing to visit the Relic on Mars. This system will be applicable to various activities and raids, though some older weapon instances will not be eligible due to technical constraints.

Other notable updates include changes to weapon mementos, allowing players to apply mementos directly from the weapon inspection screen and increasing the memento stack cap. Fragment costs at Ikora will be significantly reduced to make them more accessible. The Pantheon grows stronger too with the addition of Rhulk, the first Disciple of the Witness.
