MMOBOMB - Sep 16, 2024

Just two week ago, Corepunk took sales of their supporter packs down as the team, surprisingly, had more testers than they thought they'd ever see. As testing continues, the team was planning on wiping servers for a final few "fresh start" tests before the top-down MMO's early access starts on November 26th. The wipe is now scheduled for next week on the 23rd.
Why the wipe delay? In short, a few key updates that the team expected to have completed by today just aren't finished. The big dog on the list is combat. "To be honest, the tactile feel and responsiveness of Corepunk's combat system were not at a sufficient quality level, and this was a major concern for us," says the team in a new post on the official site. Tons of changes to hero abilities, timing of abilities on the server, and even event calculations were reworked. This resulted in basically a rework to combat as a whole. According to the team, "Now, we are ready to compete with the best in the industry in terms of the tactile feel and responsiveness of our combat system." We'll get a look at this during the fresh start.
The other large factor is the inclusion of Corepunk's planned PvP/PvE extraction mode. This mode will be high-risk/high-reward and will also give new life to items as you can risk your great items to try and gain some powerful items you're after. It will also be the primary gameplay loop and needs to be ready for early access.
While you can get a lot of information from the post about the mode, the most interesting part of the post, in my opinion, is actually a small mention to item duplication bugs in the current test.
While the team had fixes for most of the issues pretty quickly, they actually held back on pushing the fixes live. Ironically, as players were duplicating items, the Corepunk team saw that players were using the dupped items to engage more fully in multiple systems in the game. Without the extra items, it would have taken players a few months for farm up items and naturally start hitting the more in-depth and complex systems. Extra items let them get there much faster, so the team just let them go on dupping...at least for a while. Pretty interesting way to test things.
