If you’re an EverQuest/EverQuest II fan and you missed out on Fippy Fest this weekend, you can still get a taste of the festivities. While the event took place over the whole weekend, Daybreak and Darkpaw shared a bit of it with fans who wouldn’t be there in person with a six-hour live stream. Yeah, you’ll want snacks for this.
The event is dedicated to celebrating all things EverQuest. It’s particularly celebratory this year as EverQuest turns 25 and EverQuest II is about to turn 20. A lot of the stream caters to long-time fans of the game, talking about the game’s history and development. Players will see several members of the game’s development staff on stage throughout. Of course, it wouldn’t be a gaming event without some teases.
As the EverQuest teams really love to do expansions, they announced one for each of the games. EverQuest’s next expansion, “The Outer Brood”, focuses a bit on dragons – with the developers even showing off a new dragon NPC. EverQuest II’s expansion will continue “Scars of Velious” and is titled “Scars of Destruction”. That’s pretty much it for details. We’re sure the devs will be providing more information in the near future.
On an additional note, EverQuest II’s progression server, Anashit Sul, opens this week. Players who want to play the game as it was in 2006 – without a lot of the features that exist in today’s version of the MMORPG – will be able to hop in on Wednesday.
