Genshin Impact's V 5.8 Update Introduces First Character From Nod-Krai And Kicks Off Summer Event

It’s hard to believe Genshin Impact players have spent almost a year in Natlan, but it’s true. In that time, we’ve made lots of new friends, uncovered mysteries involving the ancient dragons, ended a 500-year war, and run into our sibling again. At least this time, we got to remember it and got a few answers.

Now, our time in Natlan has almost come to an end as the next step in our journey is calling. But before we take off, there is the annual tradition of the Summer Event.

In previous iterations, these events have often involved Klee, Albedo, and the ever-elusive Alice, and the event and areas related to it were always temporary, often because Alice or one of the other members of the Hexenzirkel had a hand in making them. (Honestly, what a bunch of terrifying ladies.) This year it’s different, as the event takes place at a new resort in Natlan.

The location and even the related story will all remain after the event period is over, which is excellent news since HoYo loves to fill these kinds of events with big lore. So, if you miss the events, you miss out on all those details. That’s not to say everything from the events will remain. As with permanent events in HoYo’s other games, smaller side events and special rewards will go away when the event period ends. So players looking to get those items, like Bennett’s new outfit, will want to get them done.

Of course, the Version 5.8 update isn’t just about summer vacation. There’s also a new mystery to solve, as the Traveler and friends meet someone new who is looking to find their way home. Ineffa is a multi-functional robot created by someone from Nod-Krai using parts from all around Teyvat. She’s the game’s new playable character and brings new mechanics to the hydro-electro reaction elements of combat, changing electro-charge to something lunar-charge, which places a thundercloud overhead to continue to cause damage. According to this morning’s Special Program, she’ll be the first character to have this ability.

Since Ineffa is a new character, that also means the introduction of a new Archon Quest, which will also offer insight into her origin and probably more information about the general state of Teyvat. The update also includes a quest that will see Yelan going to Fontaine for a bit in order to solve a crime, and since she’s going undercover, she’ll be getting a new outfit as well.

Oh, yes, and there’s also a new boss fight. It seems one of Gold’s creatures has been left unattended for a while, and it’s not a friendly one like Albedo. It also continues to grow, so it’s huge and immortal.
