I’ll admit it. I’d kinda forgotten about Fortnite not being on the Play Store. No, not because I’m an iPhone user… I’m not. I think it’s honestly because we just hadn’t talked about the whole thing in a while. And it does seem like a bigger deal was made about the removal from Apple’s store.
If you’re someone who’s been waiting for the free-to-play battle royale to be made available to Android devices again – particularly since they’ve been back on iOS for a bit now – your wait is just about over. Last week, Epic announced that the company has “settled [its] disputes with Google worldwide”. (Thanks to MassivelyOP for spotting this one.) This includes the US, UK, and Australia. As a result, not only is the game returning, but, as Epic points out, “developers will have choices in how they make payments using Google Play’s payment system and competing payment systems”.
That should make things easier for smaller developers. Of course, I’m sure what Fortnite players will be most excited about is that they’ll finally be able to play the game on their Android devices again.
