MMOBOMB
Nov 17, 2023
It’s been a long time since we’ve covered anything related to Blizzard’s MOBA Heroes of the Storm. In fact, the last thing we wrote about was the game entering maintenance mode… about a year ago. Before that, it was the developer adding Mei to the lineup. That was three years ago, for those wondering. All that is to say, nothing has been happening with that game in a very long time, and we honestly didn’t expect anything to happen with it again.
Yay for being wrong. No. They haven’t added new maps or characters, but there’s a bit of life. The developer dropped patch notes on the Blizzard site yesterday, listing fixes and changes. Some are general things like changes to the game’s camera or UI, but there are also adjustments to characters and maps. This was shared on their Twitter feed.
It should be noted that this hasn’t been the only sign of life on the Heroes of the Storm Twitter. Not quite a month ago, the devs also shared patch notes for the game’s PTR. The last time anything had been posted there was in March of 2022. A tweet a month is a pretty big increase after nothing for about a year and a half. If you were a fan of the game, it might be worth paying attention to the account again.
The team did say way back when that they would still continue to do minor balance changes, but they were few and far between so do the new updates mean the game could come back? Maybe...we'll have to wait and see.
