Blizzard’s hero shooter, Overwatch, has a new publisher in South Korea. Today, the developer announced that Nexon will be taking over publishing of the in August, giving players in the region a truly local version of their own.
Considering the popularity of other Blizzard properties in South Korea, such as StarCraft, it might seem a little weird this didn’t happen sooner. But, perhaps now was just the best time. After all, Blizzard recently announced a partnership with Nexon on the StarCraft IP, and even more recently have been making some pretty big changes with the Overwatch IP – such as rebranding Overwatch 2 back to Overwatch. Either way, it seems like good news for South Korean fans.
Of course, players will need to register a Nexon account and link their existing Overwatch account with it. The website is already available for players to do just that. As is always the case with these kinds of things, there are rewards to be had for completing the registration ahead of time. Players just need to be sure to have it done before August 11. And if there are any concerns, the site states that all records and experience from existing accounts will remain after the transfer.
