Look, Riders of Icarus lost me a long time ago. At launch I thought the MMORPG actually had potential with its mount/minion catching gimmick, but then they screwed themselves with the way they monetized storage of those captured mounts. Since then, the game went to a "Play-to-Earn" crypto model and I've totally abandoned it.
Really, I just check their site each week waiting for a shutdown notice, but it still manages to keep kicking.
So let's take a look at their holiday event.
On the surface, it initially makes sense. There's Yeti involved so they're shown in the image. You're on a quest to help Mary recover some materials used to craft gifts that some of her assistants stole. It's silly, but there's a dungeon and rewards.
It gets odd for two reasons, though. 1) The post specifically says the items were taken by Mary's assistants who are on strike. You're tasked with getting "rid of the striking" assistants. It seems harsh before you've heard their grievances. 2) The official post calls the event "Crafting a Crisis Christmas Gift." I have no idea what that means. It must be a translation issue, right? Sure, the situation may be a "crisis," but crafting a crisis gift? I'm at a loss.
Maybe I'm missing something you Riders players know. If so, feel free to fill in the gaps in the comments.
