Bytedance, the Chinese company behind TikTok, is also the parent company of gaming publisher Nuverse, which publishes games like Marvel Snap. Today Bytedance told Reuters that they will be closing the Nuverse gaming arm of their company, effective by the end of 2023.
"We regularly review our businesses and make adjustments to centre on long-term strategic growth areas. Following a recent review, we've made the difficult decision to restructure our gaming business," the spokesperson said.
With no plans to reenter the video games market, the company will be divesting itself of its ongoing games which include card game Marvel Snap, One Piece: The Voyage, and Crystal of Atland.
Marvel Snap developer Second Dinner has already taken to Twitter to assure fans that the TCG will not be going anywhere.

Some of our players have expressed their concerns regarding reported structural changes at Nuverse.
We wish to thank you for your concern and assure you that regardless of any changes at Nuverse, SNAP will continue to operate and flourish in the future!
An IP as large as Marvel Snap is sure to be picked up by another publisher fairly quickly, especially considering that Second Dinner was heavily funded by NetEase, who is a likely partner for the future of the game.
