Overlooked DayZ style survival game is suddenly bigger on Steam than ever before

There are plenty of sprawling survival games out there, each with their own angle on the genre. Subnautica takes place on and deep below the surface of an ocean. The Forest strands players in a deadly expanse of woodland. V Rising features bloodthirsty vampires. The exceptionally named Surroundead is centered on portraying a zombie apocalypse through a distinct, lo-fi visual style that sets it apart from similar games. Though it first hit Early Access back in 2022, a steep discount and solid user reviews seem to have given it new attention, with its player count currently rising on Steam.
