Overwatch 2 has gotten so bad, even Valve is taking a crack.
The studio behind Steam has been secretly working on “Deadlock,” an Overwatch-style third-person hero shooter. Information about the game emerged — or rather, leaked — from a recent closed alpha playtest involving hundreds of players, as reported on by Gabe Follower (@gabefollower) on Twitter. Apparently competitive gaming YouTubers have also been given access to the build, though there’s NDAs.
Since testers started sharing Deadlock screenshots all over the place, here's ones I can verify, featuring one of the heroes called Grey Talon. pic.twitter.com/KdZSRxObSz

These leaked images depict six-vs-six team battles on maps featuring lanes, usable items, and various hero abilities. Deadlock appears to incorporate elements from MOBAs and tower defense games; in a nutshell it's a mix of Valorant, Overwatch, Dota 2, and Team Fortress 2. (So, SMITE.) The game has a sci-fi setting and we know the name of one character: Grey Talon, who uses a bow and traps.
Deadlock has been in development since 2018, predating the release of Counter-Strike 2. Following the playtest and now this leak, an official announcement from Valve will likely come any day now.
