As we all know, Destiny 2 will be receiving its final content update soon. On June 9, Monument of Triumph will drop, bringing the final batch of playable content to the game. This isn’t a full end for the free-to-play shooter, but it will be the end of anything new.
Unlike other games that have taken the same route, Destiny 2 isn’t just stopping abruptly. Nor did they just announce store closures. Instead, the dev team created a full content update that introduces a lot (if not all) of what they’d hoped to give players in future updates. Now that those updates are no longer on the table, the content is being delivered in one big package.
I admit, I’m curious to see how that will work out. It’s pretty obvious the devs had intended to roll things out over time, giving them ample time to make sure they worked properly. Since the deadline for these features was pushed up, and more of them are dropping at once, they may not be exactly how the team envisioned. The good news is that the devs aren’t just dropping the content and running; they will be working on things for a bit. It’s just that it will be what exists as of the upcoming update. Nothing more will be added.
Based on the trailer below, it seems that the update will provide players with enough to keep them busy for a while, which is great. And if the quality-of-life changes and the like are effective, those who wish to remain for a while should have a good time.
