With Escape From Tarkov not exactly feeling the love from its players recently, we figured now would be a good time to offer up 10 alternatives that should tickle you in all the right places. These are our favorite current and upcoming extraction shooters you should check out.

Gray Zone Warfare

Gray Zone Warfare has received quite a bit of attention since Tarkov decided to piss off its player base. GZW is currently in Early Access on Steam with "Mixed" reviews so far. Most negative reviews center on pretty typical Early Access issues like performance. Gray Zone Warfare boasts an MMO-sized open world and focuses on realism. It has both a PvEvP and PvE mode.

ZERO Sievert

If you're looking for a different perspective on extraction shooters, then check out ZERO Sievert. It's a top-down shooter that mixes the setting of Stalker with the hardcore mechanics of Tarkov. You'll scavenge the procedurally generated wasteland to loot gear and survive. I love the look of ZERO Sievert and it has a "Very Positive" review score on Steam.

Incursion Red River

Incursion Red River is a tactical first-person extraction shooter set in war-torn modern day Vietnam. Play with up to three of your friends to complete contracts and challenges from three different PMCs. As your reputation increases you can access the vendor to purchase limited quantities of weapons and gear. Incursion Red River currently sits at "Mostly Positive" on Steam.

Hunt: Showdown

Hunt for bounties in the infested bayou in the tactical PvPvE first-person extraction shooter Hunt: Showdown. It currently has a "Very Positive" rating on Steam and nearly 20,000 folks playing at the time of this writing. Play alone or in teams of two or three in the year 1895. There are monsters in the bayou, and only some of them are human.

Deceive Inc.

If you're looking for a change of pace in your extraction shooter, take a look at Deceive Inc. It's a spy game of social deduction, deception, and extraction. Disguise as anyone and deploy an arsenal of high-tech gadgets and weapons to neutralize the enemy spies. Watch out though, because they can be disguised as anyone as well. Get the objective and get out. That's your mission.

Arena Breakout: Infinite

Arena Breakout: Infinite knew how to take advantage of the Tarkov situation as they got themselves some attention Tweeting out that "We will never scam out players, and our game will always be free-to-play". The game is still upcoming, so no one has been able to try it out yet, but it's a promising-looking military extraction shooter. Arena Breakout: Infinite describes itself as an ultra-real immersive military simulation.

Gate Of Torment

While we're talking upcoming games we might as well talk about another that grabbed my attention on Steam. Gate of Torment is an upcoming top-down 2D hardcore dungeon crawler extraction shooter. You seek to escape Hell armed with guns and black magic, and a mysterious portal device lets you raid dungeons. I guess I have a thing for the old-school-looking 2D stuff.

Convergence

If you're looking for something you can play in VR, then Convergence is the game you're looking for. This post-apocalyptic extraction shooter is an immersive single-player game with survival and horror elements. Scavenge for loot, fight bandits, and hunt for mythical artifacts, but get back to base before nightfall or the hunter will become the hunted. Oh, and there's a doggo, 10/10.

Marauders

Let's go sci-fi with Marauders. As a space pirate players will work solo or in a squad with up to three others to hunt for loot, craft new weapons and gear, and salvage what you'll need to survive. Upgrade your gear on the fly and uncover troves of loot from raids on space frigates and moving asteroids. If you're tired of the typical "realistic" military shooter, this one may be for you.

Helldivers 2

Not lacking its own recent controversy, Helldivers 2 looks to be back on track after announcing they would not require a PlayStation Network account for PC players after all. The game was heavily review bombed before they reversed course on the PSN requirement, but many players are changing their reviews back to positive ones now that the PSN requirement has been removed. It looks like it's safe to jump back into the Helldivers 2 waters.
