When it comes to Halloween events in a video game, where do you go when your game is basically already horror-themed to begin with? V Rising has decided to just give some things away. While I would be very interested in seeing the survival game's team over at Stunlock creating in-game Halloween content, I guess this will have to do for now.

Starting tomorrow, October 16th, and running until November 16th, players on Steam and on PlayStation can grab up the "Haunted Nights Castle Pack" DLC for free. The DLC unlocks 15 Halloween-themed items for you to use decorating your personal castle. New drapes, carpets, a coffin, and more will become unlocked for creation as long as you've leveled enough to create similar quality in-game items. Jump in and grab it now. Once the offering closes, the DLC pack will go dormant again.

While the pack is available to everyone, there's also a new contest kicking off to celebrate the holiday. This one pays homage to slasher films. Blood, gore, and scares...capture all that in your own V Rising creation and you could win some pretty awesome prizes.

The rules are pretty straight forward. "Take one of our many iconic V Bloods and reimagine them in the spirit of this seasonal horror movie staple," reads the official post. You don't have to make them directly related to an existing slasher villain, either. You're free to create a drawing, a video, a sculpture...literally whatever you want to make. Just make sure you stick to the theme as that will be the key mark in judging. Of course, no cheating. You can't use AI or tracing or any other work that isn't your own. The grand prize winner here nets a ton of V Rising swag including the vinyl, 4 copies of the game, all current and future DLC, a hoodie, a mousepad, and more. Additional winners will also be chosen for smaller prize packages mainly centered around the Castlevania DLC.
