Remember when Ubisoft had to basically roll back every big plan they had for The Division 2's "Seasons 2.0" update? Yeah, apparently having players spend years playing a particular character only to have it pretty much sidelined for the entire new season structure was something players wouldn't be happy about. Imagine that.
Today, Year 6 Season 2, dubbed "Shades of Red," drops in the shooter and we now get the final version of their new plans, and yes, you can take your existing characters along for the ride.
Believed dead, rogue agent Aaron Keener is actually alive and we've taken him into custody at the White House. No doubt, he's got a lot of info we should know, but that'll have to wait until we capture a few of his friends, starting with Theo Parnell.
That's where the "Seasonal Journey" kicks off. It starts a bit structured with 7 sequential missions, each containing 8 objectives. Even new players at level 1 can jump into the new content. Completing each mission nets you season rewards and a unique cosmetic awaits you at the conclusion of the missions.
When enabled, 4 different types of season modifiers change up the way The Division 2 plays. Modifiers can be Global, Active, Passive, or apply to Hostiles. This modifiers system can be disabled if you aren't enjoying the new play options.
At level 30, you'll gain access to the "Primary Objectives" system. These are random missions you can select from to boost your progress. Yes, there's a reroll system if you don't like any of your currently available options.
I'm looking forward to trying the "Manhunt Scouts" option, though. This is a weekly piece of content requiring players to work together, solve riddles, and move the narrative forward. There's a special Manhunt Climax Mission that unlocks after you clear all the Manhunts, THEN there's even a "Master" version of that mission after that. Plenty of rewards.
In addition to the content, we've also got a list of new items, weapons, armor, and exotics. Check those out in the patch notes.
