Released on November 11, 2002, the game takes place in a world where a violent war has brought turmoil to the brink of destruction. The sun has disappeared from overhead, shrouding the world in eternal darkness and forcing communities to inhabit underground mines. As food and drink become scarce, wars intensify as each race struggles for survival within this setting. Players are plugged into this world of terror and must use bravery and cunning to uncover the long hidden secret of Arx. The epic quest involves exploring ancient temples, bustling cities, and abandoned mines while unearthing legendary artefacts. You will also face terrifying foes throughout your journey across these diverse environments. The game offers a massive underground world to discover and explore as you progress through the story. The title includes lots of quests and sub-quests to complete alongside an innovative gesture-casting system. This system features 50 powerful spells based upon 20 runes, allowing players to wield over 20 crushingly powerful weapons. No two games are ever the same because the storyline and events change according to your actions. Hundreds of characters are available to befriend or murder during play. The choices you make strongly influence the story, leading to one of four distinct endings. The main story length is approximately 20 hours to complete. If you include extras, the experience extends to about 27 hours. A completionist run takes roughly 49 hours to finish all available content.
