In As Far As The Eye, players take on the role of the wind guiding a tribe known as the Pupils toward the center of the world. This indie strategy title from Goblinz Studio and Maple Whispering Limited, developed by Unexpected, features single-player gameplay where you manage resources, buildings, and lives. You must help the tribe grow wiser through agriculture, crafting, scientific research, and mystical studies before the world is submerged. The game functions as a nomadic turn-based city builder where you plan the best path for your group to survive halt after halt. Your primary goal is to reach the Eye while ensuring the Pupils are not starving or caught off guard by rising waters. You will harvest materials, construct structures, and stock supplies at each halt before the wave engulfs your settlement. The journey unfolds on a procedurally generated map where you explore places of interest to find long lost treasures. Random events and dire conditions require careful management to protect the tribe against unexpected challenges. Progress is tracked through improvements to jobs, buildings, and the Tribe's Knowledge system. You can meet allies, negotiate for resources, recruit new Pupils, and make offerings in Sacred Sites or plunder them instead. Although there are no enemies, your actions carry consequences that you must bear. The campaign allows you to learn about A FATE's traditions and legends while unlocking new tribes and regions via the Roguelike system. Each play session can be tuned with modifiers such as game duration, halt size, and resource generation rates. Reaching the Eye with as many Pupils as possible earns rewards and unlocks new stories and fates. The main story takes approximately seven hours to complete, while including extras extends playtime to nine hours. A completionist run requires about ninety-seven hours of gameplay to finish all available content.
