About
BETON BRUTAL is an indie and casual title developed and published by Jan Malitschek, released on March 31, 2023. The game functions as a single-player experience where players navigate tranquil brutalist architecture in a first-person perspective. Its core loop involves climbing a massive overgrown concrete tower while managing the constant risk of falling and losing progress. Players must replicate parkour mechanics similar to those found in Minecraft to ascend multiple stages that increase in difficulty with each attempt. A single misstep can result in significant loss of progress since the game offers no checkpoints whatsoever throughout the course. Spotted shortcuts within the level design allow players to save time and reduce frustration during their ascent. The main story length is approximately 19 hours, while completing all extras extends the playtime to around 48 hours. If the climbing becomes too stressful, players can choose to rest momentarily to take in their surroundings before continuing. However, resting requires caution as peering over the edge too much could lead to an accidental fall and loss of progress.
