Between the Stars is an indie action RPG and adventure title developed and published by Isolated Games and WhisperGames, released on May 28, 2019. This sci-fi strategy simulation places players at the helm of an interstellar cruiser tasked with protecting the civilized world from the Children of the Sun faction. The game features single-player gameplay where you must cross the galaxy, face challenges at each warp jump, and make difficult decisions affecting your ship and crew. You will upgrade equipment and fight in battles to survive while navigating a universe dominated by border planets in the known sector. Combat occurs in real time within intense space battles where using special abilities at the right moment can mark a difference on the battlefield. Players can unlock, upgrade, personalize, and buy different playable ships and their systems to conquer the galaxy throughout the adventure. You create a captain and develop them by leveling up and acquiring attributes based on the decisions made during play. The stellar map features events generated in a procedural universe that allows for exploration across various sectors. Visitors can access space stations and planets across different sectors that make up the galaxy while hiring and upgrading their crew to face universal dangers. Ensuring crew safety involves covering casualties and leveling them up as you progress through the game. Hundreds of text-based events pit your capacity and your crews against countless dangers, requiring craft, salvage, and investigation of new weaponry. Decisions made in one event can change the evolution of the entire playthrough, offering a standard difficulty mode or permadeath for an added challenge. The main story length is approximately 14 hours.
