About
BLACKSAD: Under the Skin is an adventure and puzzle game developed by YS Interactive and Pendulo Studios, published by Microids. Released on November 13, 2019, this single-player title follows charismatic detective John Blacksad in a dark corruption scandal within New York City's underworld during the 1950s. The narrative begins with the death of Joe Dunn, owner of a boxing club, and the mysterious disappearance of rising star Bobby Yale before his major fight. Sonia Dunn, Joe's daughter who takes over the gym to handle its financial issues, hires Blacksad to investigate Yale's case. Players conduct the investigation in their own way by making decisions that directly influence character development and the story's ending. The gameplay combines investigations, puzzles, quick time events, and multiple-choice dialog while allowing players to use feline senses to hunt for new clues. More than 30 characters appear throughout the game, including new faces and old favorites, each with their own story. The world features a jazz soundtrack that complements the graphic style of this anthropomorphic animal setting. The main story takes approximately 10 hours to complete, while playing through all extras extends the experience to 12 hours. Completing every aspect of the game requires about 17 hours. Fans of adventure games will appreciate the narration and gameplay mechanics, while comic book series fans can rediscover the familiar characters and visual style. This official story is set in a unique world perfectly recreated for gamers with an incredible 1950s feel.
