About

Bread & Fred is a challenging co-op platformer developed by SandCastles Studio and published by Apogee Entertainment. The game was released on May 22, 2023, and falls under the genres of action, indie, adventure, platformer, and casual. A demo version of the title is currently available for players to try before purchase. Two players must work together to jump and climb toward the top of a snowy mountain in this single-player or multiplayer experience. The core gameplay requires precision with every jump, as landing moves you closer to the peak while falling sends you even farther down the slope. Players can choose to cooperate with a friend or strap their rope to Jeff, a rock, to tackle the climb alone. The mechanics allow players to swing between platforms using momentum to propel themselves beyond normal jumping limits. One player must anchor down to the ground to prevent both characters from falling when swinging is attempted. Partners can also hold onto walls for a few seconds to swing each other around obstacles, though their chubby build limits how long they can cling. The main story takes approximately four hours to complete, with total playtime reaching five hours if extras are included. There is no specific completionist length listed for the game. Each fall will hurt, so players should think carefully about every jump and master penguin skills to reach the summit. The mountain awaits you, and success depends on cooperation between partners or solo skill.
