About Clockwork Empires
You act as a colonial bureaucrat for the Clockwork Empire in this indie single-player game. Players build frontier colonies with various structures like houses and mines while managing workers who harvest resources such as ore, trees, and cabbage. Colonists possess unique personalities, memories, and individual desires that affect colony management. Managers arrange machines and furniture within free-form floorplans to optimize operations. Leaders must prevent cannibalism and avoid monster encounters while handling occasional surprise inspections from occult investigators. There's a lot to love in the way Clockwork Empires attempts to break up the construction sim framework with Lovecraftian creatures and almost assured destruction, but it often takes too long to get to the best parts and fills that time with dull busywork. For most of the hours spent, it's largely a standard colonization simulator that's hampered with an unwieldy user interface and weak AI.
