About
Cryptark is a 2D sci-fi shooter developed and published by Alientrap, released on June 20, 2017. The game falls under the Action, Indie, Adventure, and Strategy genres while offering both single-player and co-op experiences. Players assume the role of a heavily armed privateer who boards deadly alien space-hulks to earn government contracts. Victory is achieved by strategizing an attack plan, selecting specific equipment loadouts, and destroying the central core of each ship. The title functions as a 2D roguelike shooter where players neutralize procedurally generated alien starships to generate income for their Privateering enterprise. Success depends on purchasing improved equipment and weapons to handle more dangerous targets, though failure results in a loss of investment and profit. Alien arks defend themselves using a wide arsenal of cyborg monstrosities, robotics, and security systems that must be overcome. The campaign features complex, procedurally generated alien space-hulks designed to test player strategy and tactics. The main story lasts approximately five hours, while completing all content requires about sixteen hours. The game includes over seventy weapons and items such as frag-cannons, tractor-beams, and flamethrowers for use during missions.
