About
Death Roads: Tournament is an indie racing and strategy title developed and published by The Knights of Unity and Surefire.Games, released on March 28, 2023. This single-player experience blends vehicular combat with strategic card-play in a turn-based format where players must eliminate all opposition to win the ultimate prize. Failure results in restarting the journey, though previously unlocked content remains available for future use. Before beginning each run, players handpick their driver and vehicle while selecting an initial set of cards. A sponsor is then chosen to determine the starting point on the nonlinear world map, a decision that cannot be changed once made. The game features stylized graphics and offers a variety of cars and characters equipped with special weapons for players to unlock. Cards serve multiple purposes beyond attacking rivals, allowing users to outmaneuver obstacles, secure better positions, or crash directly into opponents. Shifting gears while driving provides access to more powerful cards but introduces greater risk during skids that must be managed carefully. Players can gather car parts from defeated foes to customize their vehicle with new weapons, engines, and wheels. Building formidable card combinations involves swapping around different car parts to create surprising strategies against rivals. Progression across the map relies on mastering turn-based battles involving road events and avoiding being pushed out of position. The nonlinear world map allows for varied exploration as players experiment with different vehicle configurations to take opponents by surprise.
