Draugen is a single-player action, indie, and adventure title published by Red Thread Games that arrived on May 29, 2019. This first-person psychological mystery takes place in 1923 within a coastal community nestled among the fjords and mountains of rural Norway. The narrative follows Edward Charles Harden, an American traveler who has come to the region to search for his missing sister. Throughout the journey, he is accompanied by Lissie, a gregarious and independent young woman who acts as his ward. Players explore this scenic setting while interacting with Lissie through a realistic and dynamic dialogue system. The experience presents a tale viewed through the eyes of an increasingly unreliable narrator as Edward seeks to find his sister. You must navigate a world where the environment changes based on weather conditions and the protagonist's mental state. The story includes unexpected twists and turns that require piecing together a gripping narrative with deception at its core. The game features a beautiful original musical score composed by award-winning artist Simon Poole. Writing duties were handled by Ragnar Tørnquist, who previously worked on titles such as The Longest Journey and Dreamfall Chapters. All characters are fully voiced in English and utilize motion-capture technology for their performances. The project was designed and developed by the same team responsible for creating Dreamfall Chapters. The main story length is approximately three hours to complete. Adding extras extends the playtime slightly, while a completionist run takes about four hours total. Draugen received recognition as a winner of Game of the Year and Best Audio awards at Spillprisen. It was also nominated for Best Art at the Nordic Game Awards.
