About
Emberward is an indie strategy title published and developed by ReficGames that launched on June 25, 2024. This single-player roguelite tower defense game focuses on constructing twisting mazes using tetromino blocks before battles commence. Players must creatively select from block cards in their hand to find the most effective setup for each encounter. The core gameplay loop involves making strategic choices with limited wall blocks to either force monsters onto longer routes or position towers more effectively. After completing a battle, players can add various runes to their block cards to enhance towers, grant special abilities, or double their size. Different tower types offer distinct advantages, such as poison towers that span monster paths or drone towers that track enemies for automatic attacks. Other tower options include D20 variants that rely on luck to determine damage output based on the roll result. Building powerful defenses requires careful planning regarding tower sizes like 1x3, 2x2, or 3x3 configurations. The game emphasizes tactical depth through these varied building mechanics rather than relying on standard shooting methods.
