Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn is an action, adventure, and RPG developed by A44 Games and published by Kepler Interactive. This single-player title was released on July 17, 2024. It serves as a sequel in spirit to the studio's previous work, Ashen. The game combines elements of magic and gunpowder within its gameplay. The narrative takes place after the Door to the Great Below has been opened, unleashing Gods and their armies of the Dead upon the world. The lands of Kian are under siege while the city of Dawn faces imminent destruction. Players control Nor Vanek, an elite member of the Coalition army tasked with fighting back against these threats. A mysterious fox-like companion named Enki joins the protagonist to guide them through the story and share knowledge about the world. The core objective involves defeating the Gods to close the door and retake the world for humanity. Combat allows players to embrace vengeance while utilizing both firearms and magical abilities. The experience is designed as an explosive Souls-lite where divine power meets gunpowder technology. Your battle against these deities begins immediately upon starting the journey.

Despite my hangups, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn never plummets to being actively bad. Instead, it coasts along a solid line of mediocrity that results in a moderately good time. It often feels like it wants to say or do more but is held back by its scope and execution, not to mention some technical hiccups. Though it occasionally shows flashes of brilliance, Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn falls short of achieving true godhood.
