About

Giana Sisters: Twisted Dreams is a platformer developed and published by Black Forest Games and HandyGames respectively, released on October 22, 2012. The game falls within the Arcade, Action, Indie, and Platformer genres and offers both single-player and multi-player modes. Players can engage in local PvP arena racing where up to four participants compete using boosters and power-ups to push opponents off the screen. This competitive mode allows users to smash through obstacles while switching level layouts via dreamgates and collecting gems for speed boosts. The narrative follows a teenage Giana searching for her lost sister within forgotten dreams that shift as she explores them. Her mood changes with the environment, altering her powers between two distinct personas: one cute and dainty, the other punky and cynical. In the cartoonish nightmares of her childhood, she mocks ghosts and demons by lightly twirling over them, while the bright lollipop dreams annoy her enough to make her smash brick walls or fuzzy bunnies. To defeat bosses guarding each realm, players must use skills, speed, and brains to twist these dream worlds to their advantage. Gameplay involves fluidly morphing between two dynamically different dream worlds that affect graphics, music, and abilities at the player's command. The soundtrack features a dual-sided retro and metal composition by Chris Huelsbeck and Machinae Supremacy. Combat requires intertwining sweet Giana's twirling jump attack with Punk Giana's hammering dash attack to survive in dualling dimensions. The experience combines the challenge of retro era platforming with tight controls and fast-paced action against grueling enemies. The main story takes approximately seven hours to complete, while including extras extends playtime to thirteen hours. A completionist approach to the game requires about twenty-three hours to finish all content.Read more
