About
Gibbous - A Cthulhu Adventure is an indie comedy cosmic horror adventure developed and published by Stuck In Attic. Released on August 6, 2019, this single-player title takes place in Darkham, a location characterized by crooked gambrel roofs, dark alleys, and a history filled with secrecy. The setting has changed over time as kooky cults appear frequently and the Necronomicon becomes a subject of trembling whispers once again. The narrative follows Detective Don R. Ketype on a mission to retrieve the mysterious evil tome known as the Necronomicon. During this quest, librarian Buzz Kerwan accidentally discovers the book and transforms his cat, Kitteh, into a walking, talking abomination. The story involves three protagonists who travel around the world to deal with various threats, including cosmic and human-made abominations, voodoo, and entities that should not be. Visually, the game features gorgeous HD art and detailed traditional animation that gives it a Disney-esque look and feel. Players can explore over 60 hand-painted environments inspired by Transylvanian architecture and nature while experiencing dynamic lighting, real-time reflections, and a weather system. The experience includes upwards of 70 fully voiced characters with custom responses for different combinations, including a special guest appearance by Doug Cockle. The audio presentation is supported by an original soundtrack lasting over four hours that features live instruments. Dialogue lines total more than 12,000, contributing to the lengthy cinematic story that spans continents. The game offers an integrated hint system to assist players when they encounter difficult situations and includes fully animated cartoon cutscenes for important story beats. Humor is present in every moment while a darker arching plot develops throughout the adventure.
