Heroes of Hammerwatch is an action, indie, fantasy, RPG, and adventure title developed and published by Crackshell. The game was released on March 1, 2018, and takes place within the same universe as Hammerwatch. Players battle their way through procedurally generated levels to reach the top of the Forsaken Spire. Each run involves encountering endless hordes of enemies, traps, puzzles, secrets, and loot. The experience functions as a rogue-lite with significant persistent progression elements. Every run begins in Outlook, a town where players can upgrade buildings to provide heroes with various enhancements. Heroes retain experience gained from runs and become more powerful as they level up. Players can construct or upgrade ten different buildings that assist their heroes in various ways. The game supports both single-player and multi-player modes, including co-op play with up to three friends. Players may choose from seven different classes, each offering unique stats, abilities, and playstyles. Over 100 unique items of various rarity can be found or purchased during gameplay. The main story length is approximately 18 hours, while the main story plus extras extends to about 44 hours. A completionist run requires roughly 98 hours to finish all content. New Game+ mode ensures that the challenge continues even after beating the game.
