About
Hex of Steel is an indie strategy title published and developed by Valentin Lievre, released on August 31, 2020. The game covers all fronts of the Second World War with original mechanics for solo play against artificial intelligence or multiplayer sessions. Players can fight across Europe, Africa, and the Pacific in single-player campaigns or join friends in cross-platform real-time and PBEM modes. Cooperative play is available as an option for those who prefer teaming up with others. The experience includes adaptive artificial intelligence designed to avoid cheating during matches. Scenarios span large areas including North Africa and the Pacific alongside European theaters without imposed turn or unit limits that cannot be adjusted. Users on Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android can access both real-time and PBEM multiplayer functionality. Switching between standard unit representation and NATO icons is possible with a simple key press. Campaigns feature branched structures where core units shape history throughout the story. Players have the ability to capture and deploy almost any unit within their army during gameplay. Diplomacy elements are included to add depth to interactions within the game world. The project originated from a Kickstarter campaign that raised 53 euros before expanding into this full release. An official Discord server exists at https://discord.gg/Tn63mrwJyH for community connection.
