Ironhide Game Studio developed and published Iron Marines, an indie action strategy game released on May 14, 2019. This sci-fi title comes from the creators of the Kingdom Rush trilogy and is designed as a single-player experience. The game features real-time gameplay set across amazing and unknown planets with art described as appealing and humor noted as silly. Players command brave soldiers, mighty mechas, and powerful aliens to face various challenges in this space odyssey. The campaign consists of 21 missions spread across three different worlds where players launch attacks, hold ground, rescue civilians, and hack supercomputers. Each mission requires new tactics to achieve victory, while Special Operations offer stages with their own combat rules and no mercy. The game includes an Impossible Mode for reckless players and presents massive unique bosses that are determined to crush the player. Victory is supported by bomb strikes, intelligent mines, support troops, turrets, and a wide range of special weapons. Players can recruit and train 14 heroes with outstanding powers or choose from dozens of interactive easter eggs hidden within the game. Upgrades allow users to improve strategy and empower units with defense drones, napalm rockets, and ricocheting blasts. The selection includes 8 special weapons, such as orbital strikes involving high explosive missiles, to add depth to tactics. Users can complete over 70 achievements to claim rewards or select a difficulty mode ranging from Casual to Veteran. The main story takes approximately 10 hours to complete, while including extras extends the playtime to around 18 hours. A completionist run of the game requires about 31 hours to finish all content available. The targeting system and hero room are fully unlocked for PC players who join the troops on these foreign galaxies. Thousands of players have already joined the campaign to face the greatest challenges in the galaxy.
