Lil' Guardsman is an indie comedy adventure and puzzle title developed by Hilltop Studios and published by Versus Evil. The game was released on January 22, 2024, and offers a single-player experience with controller support. You take on the role of Lil, a twelve-year-old hero who covers your dad's shift at the guard shed. Your main task involves deciding the fate of over 100 unique characters who come through the gates. You will question humans, elves, goblins, cyclopes, and other fantasy creatures to determine who to admit or deny. These decisions are based on how the visitors respond to your questions and the use of your trusty tools. Sending people to jail, accidentally zapping them, or letting them pass are all part of the job description. However, the individuals you allow through the castle gates will ultimately determine the kingdom's fate. The story unfolds as you see the Sprawl and its citizens during a royal wedding between two kingdoms seeking an alliance. This event is followed by a siege from whoever you have angered in the process. Your choices can significantly impact the outcome for the city and its people. You must interrogate more than 100 fully voiced characters to earn a perfect score. Spend your hard-earned gold wisely on powering up your guardsman toolkit. Use these upgrades strategically to admit or deny the right people, or perhaps some goblins. You can use the Chronometer3000 to go back in time for a higher score. Be careful not to break space and time while doing so. The main story takes about seven hours to complete, while the full experience with extras runs for nine hours.
