About
From Charles Cecil, creator of the Broken Sword series, comes Beyond a Steel Sky, a sequel to the cult classic Beneath a Steel Sky. The game features art direction by Dave Gibbons, the legendary comic book artist behind Watchmen. Revolution Software developed and published this title for release on July 15, 2020. It is available as a single-player experience within the indie, action, adventure, and sci-fi genres. You play as Robert Foster, who vows to bring his abducted child home after a brutal attack. The trail leads you to Union City, one of the last remaining mega-cities in a world ravaged by war and political meltdown. This city presents itself as a utopia with designer living, piazzas, and bars under the control of an altruistic AI. However, the city also possesses a dark underbelly that players will uncover. The game offers a dramatic, humorous, cyberpunk thriller narrative set in a dynamic gameworld. Players drive a fast-paced story through puzzles that respond to their actions and can be subverted by those choices. A unique hacking tool allows multiple solutions to emerge from player decisions within this interactive world. The experience explores contemporary themes including social control, artificial intelligence, and total surveillance. Intelligent puzzles are interwoven with the dramatic narrative to deliver a compelling gameplay experience. The visual style presents a beautifully detailed, comic-book styled world created by Dave Gibbons. Players can expect a main story length of 10 hours, which extends to 11 hours including extras. Completing all content requires approximately 13 hours of playtime.

Filled with what made the original game great, this second trip to Union City has been worth the 26-year hiatus.

Handsome visuals can't quite make up for bugs and a lack of urgency.

A long-awaited sequel to a 1994 classic that can't hold up against its predecessor.
