About
CONSCRIPT is a top-down survival horror game developed by Catchweight Studio and published by Team17. The title was released on July 22, 2024, and falls within the horror, indie, action, survival, and adventure genres. This single-player experience takes place in 1916 during the Great War, specifically focusing on the Battle of Verdun. Players assume the role of a French soldier searching for his missing-in-action brother throughout the conflict. The journey involves searching twisted trenches, navigating overrun forts, and crossing no-mans-land to locate him. The game offers multiple endings along with unlockable costumes and bonus weapons for those seeking additional playthroughs. Combat requires using a variety of WW1 melee weapons and firearms against enemy soldiers and combatants. The atmosphere is intense and harrowing, supported by a unique pixel art aesthetic and oppressive sound design. Distinct WW1 themed areas intertwine and overlap to create the setting for these encounters. The level design promotes item management and route planning while presenting complex environmental puzzles to solve. Various difficulty settings allow players to adjust the challenge level according to their preference. The game blends punishing mechanics from older horror titles into a cohesive experience set in this historical period.Read moreShow less
