Darkwood is a survival horror game with a top-down perspective. It was released on August 17, 2017, and was developed and published by Acid Wizard Studio. The game features single-player gameplay and controller support. Players can explore a randomly generated world filled with secrets and dangers.
During the day, players scavenge for materials, craft weapons, and uncover new information about the world. At night, they must find shelter, barricade their defenses, set traps, and prepare to defend themselves against terrifying creatures that emerge from the darkness. Players can gain skills and perks by extracting a strange essence from mutated plants and animals and injecting it into their bloodstream.
The main story of Darkwood takes approximately 18 hours to complete. If players choose to explore all the extras, the playtime increases to 28 hours. A completionist playthrough, which includes everything in the game, can take up to 44 hours.
