About
Homebody is a horror, indie, survival, adventure, and puzzle title published by Rogue Games, Inc. The game was developed by Game Grumps and released on June 1, 2023. This single-player experience offers a narrative focused on mental health and relationships that unfolds through each time loop. Players will explore a strange house while uncovering details about the events that occurred there. The story begins with Emily and her college friends gathering at a remote rental home to watch the Perseid meteor shower. They attempt to reconnect, but emotional wounds and social anxieties make Emily feel isolated. When the power cuts out, a mysterious killer begins eliminating them one by one in the darkness. If Emily cannot find an escape route, she remains trapped in this nightmare forever. After waking in the foyer following a bloody night, Emily realizes something is wrong and must find a way to leave. She can use choice-driven dialogue to learn more about her relationships with others. Stealth mechanics allow players to move quietly and hide in closets to avoid the killer's responsive AI. An in-game journal helps track clues and puzzle solutions to piece together the mystery of the event. Puzzles within the house are non-linear and inspired by adventure classics like Myst. Players must solve these devious challenges using strategic and creative thinking as time continues to tick forward. The game pays homage to retro horror titles such as Clock Tower and 80s slasher films. With each attempt, the bloodstained picture becomes clearer while the unpredictable killer stalks the house. The main story length is approximately seven hours, which remains consistent for both the main experience and extras. Completionist play also takes around seven hours to finish. Evading an unstoppable killer requires quick thinking as the time loop adventure progresses. This retro-but-modern game pulls players through a deeply strange and emotional experience.
