About

Kraken Academy is an indie comedy adventure RPG developed by Happy Broccoli Games and published by Fellow Traveller, released on September 9, 2021. This single-player title takes place in a high school setting where ghosts occupy the art department, cultists gather below the monkey bars, and crocodiles eat children. Players join forces with a magical kraken to uncover the identity of the Traitor, a malevolent mastermind who could be anyone at the school. Each time loop brings players closer to saving Kraken Academy from this threat. The game features three-day loops where players explore every corner of the campus while learning teachers' and students' routines. Activities include attending a costume party, acting as a detective, and helping the school janitor bring down a crime syndicate. While saving the world remains an important goal, there is a wide range of other activities to engage with during these loops. The main story takes approximately five hours to complete, while including extras extends playtime to six hours. A completionist run requires about eight hours. Kraken Academy is divided into four clubs: Music, Art, Sports, and Drama. Players can join the alternative Music Club to complete the school's edgiest rock band or flex creative flair in the Art Club for an exhibition. The Sports Club offers challenges to become the ultimate warrior, while the Drama Club allows players to join despite snobs if they cannot beat them. With a magical amulet, players can become a member of a different club during each time loop. In the Music Club alone, players meet Vladimir, the pretty boy lead vocalist who struggles with hysterical fangirls. Simona, an ill-tempered bassist always seen in her giraffe hoodie, hates everyone including the player. Broccoli Girl serves as the drummer and cannot get over her ex. These wacky personalities create a melting pot of characters within the game.
