About
Megaquarium is an indie simulation and strategy title published and developed by Twice Circled, released on September 13, 2018. The game functions as an economic simulation that follows the classic theme park management genre with an aquatic focus. Players begin with a small number of tanks and basic livestock to build their facility into a large operation. This single-player experience allows users to manage hundreds of guests, dozens of staff members, and many different aquatic species. The core gameplay involves designing exhibits using nearly 100 marine species such as fish, sharks, crustaceans, corals, jellyfish, invertebrates, and turtles. Users must decorate and populate tanks while ensuring each animal receives its specific care requirements. Staff management is a key component where players hire individuals based on their skills and future potential for growth. Decisions involve choosing between training multi-disciplined teams or employing super-focused experts to suit the aquarium's needs. Financial success requires balancing the cost of new animals, food, supplements, and expensive tank investments against income from ticket sales and the gift shop. Guests must be kept happy through seating, food, drinks, and toilet facilities before being directed to the gift shop for profit generation. The game includes a campaign mode consisting of 10 levels that teach players about aquarium design and management under unique conditions. Completing the main story takes approximately 21 hours, while finishing all content including extras requires about 34 hours. For those seeking extended play, the completionist length reaches 48 hours when utilizing sandbox mode with customisable settings and a random challenge generator. Research points earned from guest visits allow players to discover new livestock and equipment to upgrade their facility. The game offers over 100 different objects including filters, heaters, food dispensers, decorations, and various structural elements for layout planning. Staff talks can be planned regarding subject, time, and frequency to further increase point income. Optimizing the aquarium layout involves grouping animals by factors like food type or water quality while considering equipment placement and zoning systems. Every decision regarding animal choice, filtration, tank selection, staffing, and layout has consequences that affect other systems within the game. Players must use lateral thinking and attention to detail to thrive rather than simply running an inefficient facility. The experience encourages experimentation with adjustments to learn how different choices impact the overall aquarium environment.Read moreShow less

A charming watery theme park management game where fish are friends, not food. Until they eat each other or you forget to feed them.
