About

Paleo Pines is an indie RPG adventure and simulation game published by Modus Games and developed by Italic Pig, released on September 26, 2023. This single-player title takes place on a charming island where humans and dinosaurs coexist in harmony after evolution followed a different path. Players join the story with their dino companion Lucky to uncover the island's secrets and discover new creatures while building a thriving ranch. The setting features quirky townsfolk who assist with quests and may offer additional tasks as players progress through the game world. The main narrative provides approximately 34 hours of gameplay, expanding to 97 hours for completionists seeking to explore every aspect of the island. During this time, players can customize their character with various features and a colorful wardrobe found in different areas. Building a home base allows for creative expression through decor choices that range from romantic gardens to witchy vibes or fully tilled farmland. Some local residents might have opinions on specific pen designs, adding a layer of community interaction to the ranch management experience. Exploration involves traversing lush landscapes like Veridian Valley and Ariacotta to find hidden corners and collectible items. Players can coax cheeky dinosaurs near by mimicking their calls with a flute before sealing the friendship with treats and nose boops. Each dino possesses special farming skills that aid in growing crops year-round, provided players match soil types and seasons correctly. The game includes a Dino Journal to document information about the creatures roaming the wild areas as players befriend them. Townsfolk on the island have distinct personalities and stories that unfold through daily interactions and quest completion. Helping villagers during day or night activities opens up new areas and grants access to community hubs and stores. Foraging for wild crops can be done on foot or by riding a trusty dino mount across the green meadows of the island. As the ranch grows, players will eventually create a haven for all their new friends while becoming known throughout the market for high-quality produce.
