About
Tharsis is a turn-based space strategy game developed and published by Choice Provisions. Released on January 10, 2016, this indie title falls within the RPG, sci-fi, casual, and strategy genres. The experience is designed for single-player sessions where you manage humanity's first mission to Mars. The narrative begins with a mysterious signal from the Tharsis region that triggers a frantic journey away from Earth. Shortly after departure, a micrometeoroid storm damages the ship, resulting in the loss of two crew members and leaving the remaining team with limited resources. You must guide your surviving crew through disasters, food shortages, and the unforgiving nature of space while maintaining sanity amidst cryptic signals. The game utilizes dice mechanics to resolve situations as you face difficult decisions under pressure. Players can expect a main story length of approximately two hours, with additional content extending playtime to five hours for those seeking more than just the primary narrative. Completing all objectives and exploring every aspect of the mission requires about thirteen hours of gameplay.Read moreShow less

Tharsis is well made, but not well designed—an attractive, interesting board game idea, but only the first draft.

Tharsis can never stop reminding you that you don't have control over its interstellar disaster, just the illusion of it. Every time I watched my ship fall apart, and every time I watched new events propagate across the ship that were completely impossible to stop, I felt like, win-or-lose, Tharsis was having all the fun.

Tharsis is a captivating but sadistic game of chance that puts your fate at the mercy of dice.
