About

OTXO is a top-down shooter developed by Lateralis Heavy Industries and published by Super Rare Originals. The game was released on April 20, 2023, and includes single-player gameplay with controller support. Players control a featureless protagonist who enters an inexplicable mansion to find a lost love. Without memories of how they arrived, the character must stay inside until they locate her. The experience combines shooter mechanics with roguelite elements as you explore over 150 hand-crafted rooms across eight distinct areas. Each run features a randomly generated layout of rooms, ensuring that no two sessions are identical. You will encounter various enemy types and must adapt your strategy to survive the shifting tides of combat. Unlockable weapons and more than 100 abilities can be acquired from an enigmatic bartender to customize your loadout. Combat relies on a massive variety of guns and a slow-motion mechanic called Focus to dodge incoming bullets. This system allows players to feel powerful while breaking down doors and eliminating obstacles in their path. The game offers two main length options, with the main story taking approximately 11 hours to complete. Adding extras extends the playtime to around 19 hours, while a full completionist run requires about 25 hours. A gritty soundtrack composed by the developer accompanies the brutal noir-esque narrative throughout the mansion. The audio supports the pulse-pumping atmosphere as you face inner demons and solve the mystery of the location.
