About
Outcast – Second Contact is an action-adventure sci-fi title published by Plug In Digital and developed by Appeal, released on November 13, 2017. Players take the role of Cutter Slade, a Navy SEAL sent to the planet Adelpha after a government probe is destroyed by native forces. This incident triggers an energy cataclysm that links the futures of Earth and Adelpha, requiring Slade to repair the probe to prevent disaster. As the hero known as the Ulukai, you navigate a world where magic and science coexist while trying to stop the catastrophe. The game features a vast open world where you can progress at your own pace through hundreds of available quests. You may explore six different continents on foot or ride the shoulders of a Twôn-Ha to reach wild lands unknown to humans. Your journey involves discovering exotic cities, facing fierce enemies, and learning the secrets of the advanced Talan civilization. The systemic nature of the world means your actions have direct and visible consequences on the ecosystem and the balance of forces. Combat options include confronting bloodthirsty tyrants in daring engagements or utilizing infiltration tactics to avoid conflict. You will master an arsenal of evolving weapons and high-tech gadgets, adapting your strategy to fit each situation. New moves such as dodges, rolls, sprints, and a cover system make the combat more dynamic than previous iterations. The remake presents the universe with modern graphics while introducing hidden areas that address mysteries debated by fans of the original 1999 release. The story unfolds in the near future when humanity discovers it is not alone in the universe, or rather, multiple universes. Cutter Slade is a charismatic and bluntly spoken hero tasked with delivering freedom to people under the yoke of oppression. You can negotiate with merchants in Riss, parley with rebel forces, or follow the mystic path of the grand Shamaz as you initiate yourself into alien culture. This complete remake honors the cult status of the original title while offering a dynamic and fast-paced narrative experience.
