Conarium is an indie horror adventure developed by Zoetrope Interactive and published by Iceberg Interactive. Lovecraft's novella At the Mountains of Madness while setting its narrative largely after the original story. Players take on the role of Frank Gilman, who wakes up in an Antarctic base called Upuaut near the South Pole. The location appears deserted, creating a sense that something terrible is wrong even without prior memories. A queer device on a table presents patterns of lights executing a Danse Macabre on the walls. You discover that you have died and returned subtly changed after using the device during the expedition. This state leaves you speaking of strange memories and places while feeling vulnerable within a peculiar whole. The gameplay involves exploring the Antarctic base as well as dreams and visions to study clues. Players must unlock secrets while avoiding macabre beings at all costs. The game features multiple endings and includes a haunting and atmospheric soundtrack. Graphics are described as ominous but wonderful, created using the Unreal 4 engine. Many secrets and Easter eggs are hidden throughout the experience. The main story takes approximately four hours to complete, with five hours needed for the main story plus extras. A completionist playthrough requires about six hours.
