Crypt Custodian is an adventure platformer developed by Kyle Thompson and published by Top Hat Studios, Inc., H2 Interactive Co., Ltd., and Kyle Thompson. The game was released on August 26, 2024, as a single-player title where players assume the role of Pluto, a mischievous cat who has passed away. After a short and difficult encounter with the Afterlife Guardian Kendra, Pluto is exiled from the palace and tasked with cleaning its grounds indefinitely. Players navigate the large areas surrounding the palace while fighting creatures using a broom as their primary weapon. New abilities are acquired to unlock more of the map, allowing users to solve puzzles and find hidden secrets. At some point, the player can set up an ambush to return inside the palace. Outside the main area, visitors can interact with other ghosts who reside beyond the palace walls. The narrative explains how these spirits died and why they received eternal banishment from the afterlife. Players can visit The Sinner's Inn to speak with these characters and improve their equipment. Various upgrades are collected by completing puzzles, defeating bosses, and cleaning ruined dungeons. These items allow for customization of play style and expansion of the accessible world.
