About

Ctrl Alt Ego is an indie action RPG and shooter released by MindThunk on July 21, 2022. The single-player experience invites players to play the role of themselves minus their physical body. You transmit your consciousness between various bots and devices to solve problems in creative ways. The setting features a deep, nonlinear, interconnected world that evokes 70s and 80s era low-budget British sci-fi television. Players can choose to shoot, sneak, or get creative while deciding whether to act as a pacifist or an executor. The narrative follows a darkly farcical story about the future of human consciousness. Those who enjoy games focused on thinking for themselves and solving puzzles without preordained solutions will find this title suitable. If you are looking for a fresh experience, this game offers that opportunity. There is no inventory system; instead, the environment itself serves as an always-available, on-demand diegetic inventory. The game does not feature player death, as your invincible, disembodied ego always lives on. If your current host is destroyed, you can pick another one and carry on. A traditional save and load facility is also available for those who prefer it. Once you have taken control of a robot, it becomes yours to keep permanently. You can amass an army of these units to bring with you during gameplay. Use the robots to travel the old-fashioned way or hop from one side of an area to another in near-instant fashion. The main story takes approximately 17 hours to complete, while the full experience including extras runs about 18 hours. Completing all content requires roughly 21 hours of playtime.
