About
Cursed to Golf is a sports, action, indie, and adventure title developed by Chuhai Labs and published by Thunderful Publishing. The game was released on August 17, 2022, and features single-player gameplay with controller support. Players assume the role of The Cursed Golfer, who becomes trapped in Golf Purgatory following a freak accident that interrupts an international tournament. The objective is to navigate devious courses across this underworld setting to return to the land of the living and claim the trophy. The experience combines golfing mechanics with roguelike elements, requiring players to complete each hole within a specific PAR Count or face a reset to the course start. Courses are populated with standard hazards like bunkers alongside unique obstacles such as high-powered fans, spikes, TNT boxes, teleporters, and more. A ghostly Legendary Caddie guides players through these dungeon-like holes, offering instruction on the mystical aspects of golf needed for redemption. The world is divided into four biomes where courses appear in a randomly ordered sequence to maintain variety. Progression involves managing limited shots while utilizing over 20 unique Ace Cards that manipulate the game environment and turn odds in the player's favor. Specific power-ups include the Birdie-Eye for viewing the entire course, Shot Idols that replenish shots when destroyed with cinematic flair, and various cards like Scattershot, U-Turn, Rocketball, and Mulligans. The main story takes approximately eight hours to complete, while a full completionist run extends the experience to ten hours. Players can also challenge others through online leaderboards within this golf-themed world.
