About
Forgive Me Father is a first-person shooter developed by Byte Barrel and published by Fulqrum Publishing that arrived on October 25, 2021. The game operates within the horror, indie, action, fantasy, and shooter genres while maintaining a single-player structure. Its visual presentation utilizes a retro comic book style to create a world inspired by the novels of H.P. Lovecraft. Players act as the sole individual retaining full senses in this setting. The core gameplay involves searching for answers and relief while managing a madness level that shifts dynamically during play. This mechanic grants additional power but requires players to choose active skills that match their preferred play style. Combat encounters involve fighting against eternal evil using non-reloading weapons and various powerups. The environment includes hidden areas that are difficult to reach, requiring exploration to uncover the full story. The main narrative takes approximately seven hours to complete, though including extras extends the experience to ten hours. A completionist approach to finding all content requires fourteen hours of playtime. Timelapse animations and a mix of 2D elements within a 3D space contribute to the classic feel of early 1990s shooters. First aid kits and life points are available to manage health during dynamic combat situations.
